Transfer Talk: Man City keepers Ederson, Ortega eye Etihad exit

The summer transfer window won’t reopen in Europe for another month, but there are plenty of moves in the works and gossip swirling around. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings, goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Ederson, Ortega considering City futures

Ederson could leave Manchester City during the summer transfer window if he receives a good proposal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The goalkeeper is already receiving interest from Saudi Pro League clubs and will consider his options when Man City’s season has ended after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United. The final decision on the 30-year-old’s future will be his, potentially bringing his stay at the Etihad to an end after he first moved from Benfica in the summer of 2017.

That isn’t the only possible departure of a Man City goalkeeper this summer, with Florian Plettenberg reporting that Stefan Ortega will depart if a contract renewal isn’t agreed in the coming weeks.

The 31-year-old would like to stay with the Premier League champions but talks about a new contract that would last until 2026 have significantly stalled. There is no agreement yet, especially on the financial aspects of the deal, while Ortega also wants to be a first-choice goalkeeper in the future — whether that is for the Citizens or another club.

Ederson took part in 43 matches across all competitions this season, keeping 16 clean sheets, while Ortega has played 19 times and kept eight clean sheets.
