Four players have been ejected from Saturday’s New Orleans Pelicans-Miami Heat NBA match after a brawl broke out on the court early in the fourth quarter.
With the game in the balance at 84-80 Heat with 11:19 left in the final term, Pelicans star Zion Williamson hit the deck hard after an apparant foul from Miami’s Kevin Love which wasn’t called.
Love’s contact caused a couple of Pelicans players to rush towards the Heat big man, with teammate Jimmy Butler standing in between.
Butler pushed Pelicans forward Naji Marshall, to which Marshall responded with a hand to Butler’s throat. That caused a brawl to break out with Butler chasing a retreating Marshall up the court.
After it looked like it died down, tempers flared once again when Heat reserve Thomas Bryant allegedly threw a punch at Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado but teams were quickly separated.
Four players – Bryant, Butler, Marshall and Alvarado – were all ejected from a game the Heat wound up winning 106-95.
